The immobilisation of enzymes offers the advantage that they can then be used continuously in flow chemistry. Although enzymes usually gain in stability as a result, they also often lose significant activity. The literature is full of various techniques, which are unfortunately often reserved for experts and thus have little application for the practical enzymologist. Martin Wäscher has now been able to present his comparative studies on the immobilisation of DERA - an aldolase - published in Molecules. Immobilisation techniques don't have to be that complicated.
Great work Martin!
